From Paddock to Plate – Monday 18 November

Where does our food come from?

Northern Rivers Food invites you to a Special Event to hear our most passionate and innovative growers relate stories of how they started their operations, how they thrived, why they thrived and how they enabled produce from their paddocks to reach your plate.

  • date: Monday, 18 November, 2013
  • place: Eltham Hotel, 441 Eltham Road, Eltham
  • time: 4.30pm – 8.30pm

Ever wondered how fresh produce finds its way from the soil to a market stall or retail outlet shelf? | How do vegetables, fruit, meat and condiments leave the farm to end up on your table? | How does a raw bean become a delicious cup of coffee?

Food. It all starts with a farmer.

At this event, four of the region’s most passionate and innovative growers will share their stories including:

  • Rebecca Zentveld, Zentveld’s Coffee
  • Kerry Wilson, Nimbin Valley Dairy
  • Frank Boyle, Nimbin Valley Pecans and Rice
  • Donner Harper, The Witches Broom Stick

There’s something for everyone….whether you’re a grower or plan to become one, whether you’re involved in any business in the food chain or you just love learning about food and it’s source. Tips will include: value adding to yield higher returns; choosing a distribution system; determining the optimum scale of operations and managing the unknown variables of weather, pests and market prices.

Be part of this informative and fascinating occasion in the relaxed setting at the Eltham Pub,while enjoying delicious finger food provided by Northern Rivers Food members and beverages at bar prices.
